Heath has worked at BIS with enthusiasm and drive. He encourages students to pursue drums, bass and guitar and allows development while maintaining pleasure and the inclusion of choice in the music they select to learn through. As an able musician Heath allows those who attend his lessons to see the possibilities of pursuing music to the next level. It is a pleasure to see the success of the students as they complete their year with performance at school assemblies etc..

Hi Sylvia and Heath,
I want to say thank you to you both and the NX Music Department, for the opportunity for Carly to participate in Rock Band at NX. And for presenting the Musical Showcase on Thursday night. It was an exceptional night which we enjoyed beyond our expectations.
You have so many talented students at NX and it was great to see them performing in front of a live and enthusiastic audience. I loved seeing all types of kids with all types of instruments and abilities getting up there, creating, enjoying, being successful. It was the best!
I found myself thinking how cool it was for these young people to collaborate with extraordinary adults who are beyond cool and successful in their music careers, showing them the magic and power of music. Each child on that stage deserved their place, received encouragement and confidence from their tutor, and shone bright like the stars they are.
I hope you know, moments like these launch music careers by fostering the belief in young musicians that they can do it. Thank you.

Heath spent 6 years providing guitar and drum tuition for my 3 sons. My eldest particularly excelled through NCEA, achieving Excellence Grades with his performance and composition. Heath engaged exceptionally with all my boys and they thoroughly enjoyed their lessons with him. His involvement in their guitar lessons has ensured they have retained a love for playing.

I would really like to thank you for being such a great teacher for Ari. Ari has been practising nearly every day since returning to Mongolia. His uncle (my brother) is a huge guitar fan and Ari's 17-year-old cousin has been playing the guitar for many years now, so Ari is in a good company here. Ari has also taken up a bass guitar and practice both bass and acoustic guitars. Here, he is attending a piano class twice a week and his friends here play the piano and ukelele. So he seems well set as far as music training is concerned :-). Thank you for a great introduction for Ari to a guitar!

Heath has taught my son the guitar for the last six and a half years. During this time I have come to know him well as a teacher, a musician and as a person.
Heath is a committed and passionate musician with an ability to communicate his knowledge and enthusiasm to his learners. My son has learned to play the guitar from Heath, but he has also gained a love of music and a faith in his ability to play and create music.
Heath is reliable and honest. His genuine interest in his pupils and his love of music make him an excellent teacher. At various times I have asked Heath to help with bands that my son has put together, and on one occasion to help a group make a recording. He works well with groups of children, and goes the extra mile to make sure they have satisfying musical experiences. His versatility (being able to play guitar, bass and drums as well as doing vocals) means that he is able to help all members of a band. He has worked with the children on original material, helping them to sort out their ideas into a song that can be performed.
Part of what Heath offers is that he is a practising musician himself, writing, recording and performing original music. This is inspiring for his pupils and means that he is fully aware of the pitfalls and challenges that band playing presents.
I believe that Heath's enthusiasm and musicianship make him an excellent Tutor. He is an experienced and talented musician and an excellent teacher and communicator.
