WHAT MAKES HEATH WATSON'S LESSONS MORE ENJOYABLE & PRODUCTIVE FOR THE STUDENT?

Heath is proudly independent and not part of any organisation or musically dumbed-down national based franchise that is very common at Primary & Intermediate school levels.
This gives him a chance to tailor lessons to an individual students needs and passions & work on music the student wants to learn to play.
With extra lesson content, help with theory and gear advice backed up by the official 'Heathwatsonguitar' You Tube channel  & .com sites, students get support and input in a challenging way they can relate to anytime, wherever.

Many lessons are also linked to youtube instructional videos. Students can also keep up news, reminders  & events via heathwatsonguitar on facebook

It is this approach keeps the student engaged and gives them a sense of total participation and control over what they learn, thus inspiring creativity and most importantly: stick-ability.
This results in a lot more high-fives for all at the end of the day and the year.

"Heath's infectious enthusiasm for what he does really does engage the students. They enjoy the way he personalises the lessons for where they are at, and where they want to go with their music. He scaffolds and front loads the students learning with what the song should sound like and the technique required to create success with the sound.
Our band numbers have gone from "strength to strength" under the guidance of Heath. There is definitely the "cool factor" that Heath brings to guitar playing but he is always encouraging of students and  puts the extra time in to make it happen for all of our musicians no matter what level they are at".

HEAR WHAT HEATHS STUDENTS THINK:

School, Music & University

Picture
He began drums in 84, ' guitar in 86, ' started writing songs in 87' and began bass + piano in 88' all at Westlake boys high school. (His piano playing is still pretty bad sadly)

In 1988 the in-house WBHS guitar teacher Steve Gerrish encouraged Heath and the super fresh classic rock loving school band he was part of '4 Peace'  including the super talented Darryn Harkness, on drums, Stuart McGregor/Eddie Mayer on guitar, and Mark Rice on Bass to start writing, recording, & performing at WBHS & WGHS dances and shows & fundraising for charity events such as Telethon for which they raised $1200 .

They even got play Auckland town hall as part of the first ever 'High School Battle of the Bands' in 1988. Beaten out  by new-school rapping semi-covers out fit Double J and Twice the T. Remember 'She's a mod' with Ray Columbus'

In the late 80's the band Heath played guitar & sang for 'Cage of Angels'. They played many gigs at places like the Powerstation  and played with acts like the Dead Flowers, Push Push, 9 Lives and one of Heaths favourites 'the Exponents' at the Gluepot in 91' just before it was converted into apartments.
 Ahh the memories...
As well as being a singer/songwriter & session musician its music teaching that takes up most of his working day and he loves it!
He teaches at local schools across the North Shore
and tutors students individually in their homes or practice rooms.

Oh,  and he adores everything to do with music & loves to share what he has learned.
